Oops, I've fallen a bit behind (again) on our blog! But I'm proud to say that I have finally caught up on our photo journaling of the build in progress. And from now on, we hope to keep up with the blogging especially as there is going to be more and more activity in the near future. We expect her to ship sometime late 2013 and that is quickly approaching!
For those not familiar with boating terms, I thought it would be
helpful to provide a glossary to better understand the abbreviated photo captions
and future blog entries as we describe the build. (These terms are defined as we’re using them
in our blog, there may be other interpretations for some of them.)
Orientation:
Forward = towards the bow (front) of the boat
Aft = towards the cockpit (back end)
Starboard = the right side of the boat when facing forward
Port = the left side of the boat when facing forward
Boat spaces and terms:
“Basement” = room under the GSR
Boat Deck = The deck behind the Pilot House where our dinghy will
reside.
CC = Captain’s Cabin. This is a room located behind the settee in the
pilot house. We are removing the wall, however, so we’ll have a large open PH
with no separate CC. The space is still designated as CC.
Cockpit = Back end of the boat , aka “backyard”
Dinghy/Tender = A small boat carried on the boat deck used to get around
when anchored out
ER = Engine Room
Galley = Kitchen
FB = Fly Bridge. The area on the very top of the boat which includes a
helm.
GSR = Guest State Room. In our
case = guest room/sewing room.
Hatch = Opening in a ceiling or floor of the boat
Head = Bathroom
Lazarette = machinery/storage space under the cockpit.
MSR = Master State Room
PH = Pilot House (the “upstairs” area where you drive the boat)
Port Hole = window (often used for small circular or oval windows)
Salon = Living Room
State Room = Bedroom
Utility Room = laundry room outside ER
We’ve organized our photos into several albums to show how progress has
been made over the past 10 months. Some
albums contain photos from a couple of periods.
They have been dated so you can see the progress made from one month to
the next :
The hull was laid the end of August but little progress appears to
have been made over the first few months so these pictures have been placed in
one album.
This album includes pictures sent from the yard in December and those we
took during our visit to Xiamen in mid-January
We received photos in early March and late April.
Contains pictures sent from the yard in early May as well as a few
taken by Scott when he visited at the end of the month.
To date, the most recent pictures we have. Serious progress is being made!
Enjoy!
How did I miss that you had started blogging again?! Glad to find the source of all things Blossom. I'll be following along faithfully!
